Toddler Injured In Motorbike Collision

A toddler has been seriously injured in a collision involving two motorbikes in north Nottinghamshire.

It is understood that the three-year-old boy was on the handlebars of one of the bikes when the collision occurred on grassland at the bottom of Mary Street in Rhodesia on Saturday at approximately 3pm.

The youngster has been taken to Bassetlaw Hospital with life-threatening injuries. He was later transferred to Sheffield Children's Hospital where he remains in a serious condition.

Nottinghamshire Police said: "The collision involved two motorcycles, an adult's bike and a child's bike, which were ridden on an area of wasteland at the bottom of Mary Street in Rhodesia, near Worksop.

"The motorcycles were each ridden by men, who sustained injuries and were taken to Bassetlaw Hospital. One man was released and the second, a 23-year-old, remains in hospital."

Police have urged witness to come forward with information.

In other news, a woman died and a toddler was seriously injured after a head-on crash in Northumberland.

The collision between a car and a wagon carrying timber happened on the A696 near Milbourne, last Monday.

The 18-month-girl was cut free from the wreckage by emergency services after being trapped in the vehicle for 40 minutes.

She was then airlifted to Newcastle General Hospital by the Great North Air Ambulance with injuries to her legs and arms.

The woman driver, who is believed to have the girl's babysitter, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The A696 was closed for more than four hours to investigate the scene of the accident.

Fatalities in M25 smash
Kent police have confirmed that a serious road crash with four fatalities has occured on the M25 near junction 5. Rescue services were called to the scene at 10.35am and there are understood to be a four dead at the scene. The driver of an HGV was taken to Farnborough hospital, Orpington, suffering from chest injuries and shock.

Three People Killed In Welsh Traffic Collision
Three people have been killed in a road traffic collision in Wales, police have said. The incident happened in Tal-y-Bont, Conway, at 8:45pm on 29 October. A woman in her late 50's was taken to hospital with life threatening injuries. North Wales Police said the victims' next of kin have been informed.

Woman Dies After M5 Crash
A woman who was injured in a multiple vehicle collision on the M5 in Devon has died in hospital. Oxana Tukova, a 21-year-old Russian national, was one of seven people injured in the eight-vehicle collision,which happened near Junction 28 at Cullompton around 9pm on August 26.
