Teen Found Guilty Of Murdering 'Street Drinker'
A teenager has been found guilty of murdering a "street drinker" in an unprovoked attack in Hayes.
Daryl O'Connor, 18, of Peal Gardens, West Ealing was found guilty this week of killing Tarsen Nahar in April, 2007. He was also found guilty of assaulting Mr Nahar, causing actual bodily harm two weeks previous without motive.
Police found the body of Mr Nahar, 44, from Uxbridge, at an address in College Way, Hayes.
Only 17 at the time, he beat Asian man Mr Nahar to the ground and delivered a sickening kick to his head, the Old Bailey heard.
Weeks earlier, O'Connor and his friends had shouted at him: "We don't like n****rs in our park."
A post-mortem examination gave the cause of death as a subdural haemorrhage.
The conviction follows and investigation by the Homicide and Serious Crime Command into the violent assault.
Detective Inspector Tim Dobson said: "This was an unprovoked attack on an innocent man. Tarsen Nahar or 'Cookie' was well known as one of the 'street drinkers' that frequented the area.
"Mr O'Connor's actions showed his total disregard for this vulnerable section of the community. This verdict reinforces the Met's commitment to protecting all members of society regardless of their background.
"On behalf of the family and investigating team I would like to thank the witness's who came forward on Cookie's behalf."
O'Connor will be sentenced on 16 July at the Old Bailey.
