Nisha Husband Jailed For Life

The husband of a female special constable has been jailed for her murder for a minimum of 20 years.

Fadi Nasri, 34, originally from Lebanon, has been handed a life sentence for contracting the death of his 29-year-old wife Nisha Patel-Nasri to cash in on her £350,000 life insurance policy.

Nisha bled to death after being stabbed at her home in Wembley, north London in May, 2006. It is understood she was stabbed in the upper groin with a 13-inch knife from her own kitchen.

Nasri denied he had anything to do with his wife's death but the jury returned a guilty verdict after more than 26 hours of deliberations at his trial.

It is understood Nasri had gone out to play snooker to give himself an alibi.

The Old Bailey heard that Nasri - who ran a limousine business - had been having a affair with Lithuanian Laura Mockiene.

It is reported that Nasri regularly met Miss Mockiene for sex and took her on holiday to Egypt months before his wife's murder.

It is also reported that Nasri ran up debts of over £100,000 and had bought a £800,000 Hummer vehicle.

Jurors also heard that Nisha had once used her warrant card to help her husband collect money for his previous escort agency business. She was disciplined and given a verbal warning about the incident.

Rodger Leslie, 38, of Chesterfield Flats, Bells Hill, Barnet and Jason Jones, 36, of Hathaway Crescent, Manor Park, east London who were recruited to organise and carry out the killing were found guilty last month.

Leslie and Jones have been jailed for minimum sentences of 18 and 20 years.

A fourth defendant, Tony Emmanuel, 42, of Clements Road, East Ham, east London was cleared of murder. All denied the charges.

Metropolitan Police Commissioner, Sir Ian Blair, described Mrs Patel-Nasri's death as a "tragedy".

Commander Rod Jarman of the Met said her reputation among her family, colleagues and friends remained as a "hard working, loving individual" who "gave her time for the good of the community".

Nisha's brother Katan said after the sentencing that her Nasri had led a "sleazy double life" and that revelations that his sister had once abused her position as a police woman came as a "total shock".
