Police Arrest Man Over 'Horrific' Attack
A 23-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder, in relation to a man being set alight.
The victim, believed to be in his 20s, was attacked at around 11.20pm on Saturday 14 June in Templedene Avenue, Staines.
The injured man was taken to St Peter's Hospital, in Chertsey, and later transferred to the Queen Victoria Hospital, East Grinstead, West Sussex - where he is listed as "critical".
Police officers have been carrying out a forensic examination of the scene and nearby area in their search for anything that could be related to the incident.
Surrey Police say the arrest was made after 4pm yesterday and the suspect will be questioned today.
Police say they are looking for anyone who saw a "slim man wearing dark clothing running away from the scene shortly after the assault".
It is understood he ran down an alleyway leading to Templedene Avenue towards Berryscroft Road, Arnold Road and Elizabeth Avenue.
Police are said to be unable to offer any motive for the brutal attack.
Chief Inspector Mark Preston-Heard said it was "a horrific and unprovoked attack on a young man".

British Man Dies In Dubai Police Custody
A British man has died in police custody in Dubai. Lee Bradley Brown, 39, from east London, died on Tuesday after he was taken to a Dubai police station where he was allegedly assaulted and put into a cell. It has been reported that Mr Brown, was arrested over a row at the luxury hotel Burj Al Arab hotel.

Man Arrested Over Kent Doctor's Murder
A 21-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the murder of a doctor in Kent. Consultant paediatrician Dr Victoria Anyetei, 54, was found in her car in the driveway of her home in Dartford on August 14. She had been stabbed to death. Kent Police said that the man was arrested on suspicion of murder at an address in Dartford.

Second Arrest Made In Hainault Murder
A man, aged in his 30s, has been arrested today in connection with the murder of Albert Wright. Police were alerted to a stabbing around midnight on Friday 25 February. The body of Albert Wright, 80 (also known as Bert) was found by his son at Albert's home in Trelawney Road. A post-mortem gave cause of death as multiple stab wounds.
