Italian Nuptials For Childhood Sweethearts Wayne And Coleen

Manchester United star Wayne Rooney has married his childhood sweetheart Coleen McLoughlin, according to reports.

It is understood the Mayor of the Italian town of Portofino, Giorgio Devoto, has confirmed the nuptials of the celebrity pair, both aged 22.

Reports suggest that the couple exchanged vows at the Villa Durazzo, a 17th Century palace.

OK! Magazine is believed to be footing £2.5 million of the reputed £5 million bill for the lavish wedding half way - which is more than twice what David and Victoria Beckham were paid.

The huge bill includes hen and stag nights, five private jets to take guests to the venue, wedding rings and rare butterflies in a box for each guest to release.

Irish crooners Westlife will also provide the entertainment at the wedding reception

to be held on board a £40 million yacht, the Alysia.

Coleen - who has been the face of George at Asda - will wear a gown around £200,000 which has been designed by New York design duo Marchesa.

Guests will stay at the Hotel Splendido and have been asked to make donations to a children's hospital instead of buying gifts.

Security for the wedding has been very tight and bodyguards have been patrolling the venue for days.

The wedding celebrations will culminate in a spectacular fireworks display.
