Girls Aloud Singer Has The X Factor

Girls Aloud beauty Cheryl Cole will replace Sharon Osbourne as the new X Factor judge.

The wife of rocker Ozzy Osbourne, Sharon, 55, announced she was leaving the show last week and has already lent her support to Cheryl as her replacement.

Sharon said that working on the X Factor were "the best four years of her life".

A statement released by Sharon's spokesperson said: "Sharon would like to thank the wonderful British public for their enormous support" and denied that she left the show because she was not being offered enough money - instead saying that she felt it was simply time to move on.

Meanwhile, Cheryl Cole - part of one the UK's most popular girl bands - said it's "a massive honour to be following in the footsteps of Sharon Osbourne".

The twenty-four-year-old singer added that all her bandmates are behind her.

John Kaye Cooper, ITV Controller of Entertainment said that Cheryl is "an amazingly successful, sassy and talented woman".

He said that Girls Aloud's previous win on Popstars: The Rivals also helps makes Cheryl the perfect replacement for Sharon.

The singer will start filming in London this week, with the series due to return to the small screen in the summer.

Louis Walsh and Dannii Minogue will continue as judges on the show with Simon Cowell.

Sharon is not disappearing however and has signed to appear in VH1 series Rock of Love Girls: Charm School.
