Man Jailed For Sex Offences

A man has been jailed for 11 years for a series of sexual assaults.

Howard Zin Green, 47, of Queens Avenue, Greenford was sentenced at Wood Green Crown Court.

He pleaded guilty to three indecent assaults on a girl under 14, two indecent assaults on a girl under 16, two indecent assaults on a woman aged 16 or over and the rape of a woman 16 years or over.

Police say a further 11 offences are to remain on file.

Handing down sentencing, Judge Anthony Ansell said his actions were "unforgivable" and that he had "in a sense corrupted and destroyed a whole generation of young girls".

An investigation was launched by the Child Abuse Investigation Command at Barnet following an allegation received against Green in October 2006.

A total of ten victims aged from four to 16 years of age make allegations relating to incidents that occurred between 1979 and 1994 whilst Green worked voluntarily with youth groups and at a church school.

It is understood Green befriended the girls at Seventh-day Adventist churches across London, including Enfield and Edmonton.

Presiding over the case, DC Hannah Rose said: "I would like to pay tribute to the victims of Howard Green who had the courage and trust in the police to come forward and report their harrowing experiences to us. I am thankful for them that he chose to plead guilty rather than subject them to a trial.

"I hope this case encourages other victims of assault to speak to police, they can be assured that we will treat them with empathy and conduct a thorough investigation into their allegations."
