Teen Gets Life For Brixton Murder
A teenager has been jailed for life for the murder of a youth worker.
Nathan Foster, 18, from Brixton, was found with six bullet wounds in Marcus Garvey Way, near Brixton Tube stations last August after being shot by Junior Glasgow.
It is reported that one of the bullets went through Mr Foster's heart while the others went into his back as he attempted to run off.
Nathan was admitted to hospital where he died from his injuries.
Glasgow, 17, from Brixton, who was found guilty in May, must serve a minimum of 21 years of his life sentence, the Old Bailey has ordered.
During the trial, Michael Shorrock QC said that the shooting had been in revenge for an earlier incident when Glasgow's chain had been pulled from his neck by another youth named Kori Bell (18).
Mr Shorrock described the killing as "a cold blooded, premeditated act of revenge".
The court heard that following an argument that had taken place in Marcus Garvey Way between Glasgow and Mr Bell, Glasgow had returned to the scene five hours later and shot Mr Foster as he sat on a wall with friends.
Glasgow, who had originally denied murder, said in his defence that he had thought that Nathan Foster had been involved.
Detective Chief Inspector Adnan Qureshi said it "was an absolutely tragic case".
Mr Foster's mother, Vanetta, sister Shannel and girlfriend Rochelle paid tribute to him saying he "was entering the prime time of his life" and "had a network of close family and friends around him".
It is reported that Mr Foster had recently become a father.
