Ozzy Wins Libel Damages
Former hellraiser Ozzy Osbourne has won damages from a British newspaper over health scare allegations.
Osbourne, 59, has accepted libel damages awarded at London's High Court for an accusation by the Daily Mail that he almost jeopardised the Brit Awards after he suffered a health scare.
Osbourne co-hosted the ceremony with wife Sharon along with daughter Kelly and son Jack in February.
He was not at court today for the settlement.
The newspaper article entitled 'Ozzy's Freak Show' had claimed that Osborne had collapsed twice before the glittering music ceremony.
It is understood Osborne will donate the sum - which has not been disclosed - to the Sharon Osbourne Colon Cancer Foundation.
Osbourne's lawyer John Kelly said the article had caused the Black Sabbath singer "considerable embarrassment and distress".
Express Newspapers which owns the Daily Mail has "apologised sincerely" and has accepted that the allegations were "untrue and should never have been published".
Osbourne, also know as 'Ozzy' had enjoyed a career that has spanned four decades. He has been referred to by many as the 'Godfather of Heavy Metal'.
