Police Hunt 'Pig's Head' Vandals
A former chapel which is being converted into an Asian community centre has been the target of an attack.
A pig's head was nailed to the door of the former Methodist chapel, near Carnons Downs at the weekend.
Police are describing the incident as racist.
Musllim owner Tipu Choudhury said he was "saddened and shocked" by the vandalism but that plans for the community centre would continue.
"I think they have misunderstood the intentions behind the centre," he said.
It is reported that the Cornish nationalist slogan "Free Cornwall" was also daubed on the outside walls while racist graffiti was littered on the inside walls.
Inspector Mark Richards of Devon and Cornwall Police said that the graffiti is "offensive not only to Asians, but also to Christians and Cornish nationalists whose name is taken in vain".
Police have condemned the attack as "appalling and disgusting".
The building has suffered acts of theft and vandalism in the past.
Police are asking anyone with information to come forward and call 08452 777 444.
