Woman Held Over Stabbings

The mother of two young children, who were stabbed to death at their south London home, has been held under the Mental Health Act.

The 35-year-old woman has been in hospital since the incident at a house in the Carshalton area of the city.

A five-year-old boy and his four-year-old sister died from stab wounds after being found at the Park Lane house on Friday. The siblings died within 15 minutes of each other after being taken to hospital. A six-month-old baby was also badly injured and remains in a critical condition.

The father has been released without charge and faces no further action.

The names of the children and their parents have yet to be released by police.

Father Of British IS Hostage John Cantile Dies
Paul Cantile, the father of John Cantile, a British man currently being held hostage by Islamic State (IS), has died. A statement released by the family confirmed that Mr Paul Cantile died in hospital from complications following pneumonia on 16 October. He was 80.

Cannibalism Murder Inquest Opens
An inquest has begun into the death of Cerys Yemm, who was killed in an "act of cannibalism". Police found Ms Yemm being attacked by Matthew Williams at a hostel for recently released prisoners on 06 November. She died at the scene from injuries sustained in the attack. She was 26-years-old. 34-year-old Williams also died following the attack.

Mother And Four Children Die Is Suspect House Fire
A mother and four of her children have died in a suspected arson attack in Essex. A fifth child is in a critical condition in hospital after the blaze in Barn Mead, Harlow, in the early hours of Monday. Fire crews were called to the property at 01.
