Post-Mortem Due On Glasgow Park Death

A post-mortem is to be carried out on the body of a woman found in a Glasgow park earlier this week.

The discovery was made by a ranger in Queen's Park in the south side of the city at about 9.45am on Thursday.

The woman, believed to be in her 20s, has not yet been formally identified and police are treating the death as suspicious.

The park has been sealed off whilst police and forensic experts carry out a detailed examination at the scene.

Leading the investigation, Detective Chief Inspector Derek Robertson said: "Our enquiries are at a very early stage and until the post mortem examination has been carried out, we cannot speculate on the cause of death. However at this time the death is being treated as suspicious.

"Queens Park is a popular park which is generally busy, especially with people walking their dogs or passing through.

"I would also ask anyone who has been in the park during the relevant times to come forward as they may have unwittingly seen or heard something that may be of importance to this enquiry."

Anyone with information is asked to call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

A police incident caravan has been set up at Queen Park Gates at Victoria Road and Queens Drive.

Last Sunday, 17-year-old Amar Aslam was beaten to death in a West Yorkshire park. He was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency services.
