British DJ Arrested In Spain
A British national has been arrested in Spain in connection with rape offences committed in south east London.
The man named by news sources as Ricky Devine is accused of raping the same victim over a number or years.
He was arrested by Spain's National Police at the resort of Orihuela Costa, south of Alicante.
The 49-year-old accused is being held at a maximum security prison outside Madrid after appearing before a judge at the National Criminal Court.
A spokesman for Scotland Yard said that "Spanish police arrested a 49-year-old British man on suspicion of rape on May 9".
The former DJ for a Costa Blanca radio station, the accused could be escorted home within two weeks if he agrees to face British justice.
He could face several months behind bars in Spain if he decides to fight extradition.
The investigation was carried out with the help of the Serious and Organised Crime Agency in the UK.
In 1999, DJ Richard Baker from Cornwall was convicted for a string of rapes in Sussex, Essex and north London. He worked in Spain as a DJ most summers.

A judge's summing-up can influence a jury's decision in date rape cases, a report has suggested. The research, conducted for the British Psychological Society, presented 168 university students with a date rape scenario, which included a summing-up statement by the judge, and asked them to decide on the guilt of the alleged rapist.

Suspected British Drug Dealer Held In Spain
Christopher Mealey, who is wanted in the UK as part of a probe into an alleged £25 million-a-year cocaine ring, has been arrested by armed Spanish National Police in Marbella, on the Costa del Sol on Monday night. Officers from the National Crime Agency and the Metropolitan Police were also involved in the arrest of the 38-year-old.

Rape Investigation Against MP Mark Pritchard Dropped
An investigation into rape allegations against Conservative MP Mark Pritchard have been dropped, Scotland Yard has confirmed. Mr Pritchard, MP for The Wrekin in Shropshire, was arrested on 2 December, however he was released on police bail. He has now been informed no further action will be taken.

The ringleader of a paedophile gang in Rochdale, who groomed young white girls for sex, has been named after being found guilty of 30 separate child rape charges. Shabir Ahmed, 59, led a child sex exploitation ring of nine men who targeted vulnerable young girls in the Rochdale and Oldham areas of Greater Manchester.

Search For Missing Sailor Abandoned
The search for a missing sailor, lost off the coast of Cornwall when a tug boat sank, has been called off. Falmouth Coastguard confirmed the French Coastguard, which was co-ordinating the search, had stopped looking for the Aquarius crew member.
