Arrest Follows Rape Of Young Boy
A man is being held on suspicion of rape after a young boy was sexually assaulted in Darwen - a market town in Lancashire.
A man approached the 12-year-old boy as he was walking in the Sudellside area near his home.
He offered the youngster £10 to help find his dog and then led him to a park off Marsh House Lane.
Police say that despite the boy's efforts to escape, he was subjected to a "brutal sexual attack that may have last some time".
A Lancashire Police spokesman said: "On conclusion of the harrowing incident the victim managed to get to a nearby road and flag down a passing vehicle who had taken him home."
The incident was reported at 11pm last night sparking a major investigation involving 60 police officers.
A 44-year-old man has been arrested in the Darwen area and is being questioned by officers at Greenbank Police Station, Whitebirk.
Police are appealing for witness. Anyone with information is asked to call Blackburn Police on 01254 51212.

Sixteen arrested in drugs raids
Fourteen people have been arrested on suspicion of drugs offences in a series of coordinated raids in Lancashire, Merseyside and Northern Europe. The raids took place around 5:30am on Tuesday morning and involved more than 200 police officers, including search and entry trained officers, specialist firearms officers, dog handlers and detectives.

Twelve Arrested In Rhys Jones Murder Investigation
Merseyside Police have arrested twelve people as the investigation into the murder of schoolboy Rhys Jones last year continues. British Man Dies In Dubai Police Custody
A British man has died in police custody in Dubai. Lee Bradley Brown, 39, from east London, died on Tuesday after he was taken to a Dubai police station where he was allegedly assaulted and put into a cell. It has been reported that Mr Brown, was arrested over a row at the luxury hotel Burj Al Arab hotel.

Man Arrested Over Kent Doctor's Murder
A 21-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the murder of a doctor in Kent. Consultant paediatrician Dr Victoria Anyetei, 54, was found in her car in the driveway of her home in Dartford on August 14. She had been stabbed to death. Kent Police said that the man was arrested on suspicion of murder at an address in Dartford.

Arrests Follow Edmonton Murder
Police investigating the murder of 15-year old Negus McLean in Edmonton have today made a further two arrests. A 14-year old boy, and a 16-year old boy, have been arrested on suspicion of murder and remain in police custody. Police were called at 7.25pm on Sunday 10 April to reports of a stabbing in Westminster Road, north London.
