Freed 'Jailbird' Doherty Plays First Gig

Nortorious musician Pete Doherty has played his first gig since spending almost a month in prison.

Doherty played to an excitable crowd at the Forum in Kentish Town, north London on Tuesday.

Twenty-nine-year old Doherty was released from Wormwood Scrubs just 29 days into a 14-week prison sentence.

Doherty claimed to have kicked his drug habit during his sentence and he received a certificate on his exit for 'staying clean'.

The Babyshambles frontman played a rousing set performing tracks 'Beg, Steal or Borrow', 'Crumb Begging' and 'F*ck Forever'.

Pogues singer Shane McGowan also joined Doherty onstage for a rendition of 'Dirty Old Town'. It is also reported that Doherty broke smoking regulations by lighting up on stage.

The troubled singer was originally sent to prison in April after failing to honour appointments with probation officers.

He has been caught for driving without MoT and insurance and in possession of Class A drugs including heroin and crack cocaine.

He had been ordered to take part in a drug rehabilitation programme and report to court regulary.

Doherty is also known for his work with The Libertines. He had a well publicised but ill-fated romance with supermodel Kate Moss.
