Woman Who Killed Lover Jailed

A woman convicted of murdering her lover has been sentenced to 15 years in prison.

Wendy Walters, 43, from Bembridge, Telford, stabbed her on-off partner eight times at her home in July last year.

Walters had claimed at the six-day trial last month that 46 year-old Barry Evans had turned a knife on himself.

However, evidence gathered from medical experts disproved the claim that he had committed suicide.

It is reported that the couple had been casual lovers and both had been under the influence of alcohol on the day in question.

Detective Inspector Jon Collier, from West Mercia Police said following the case at Birmingham Crown Court that Walters "had shown no remorse for her actions" and that the "exact reasons" why she killed him were not clear.

The 15 year sentence will be reduced by 294 days for the time that Walters has already spent in custody.
