Four Held Over 1987 Private Eye Murder
Four men have been remanded in custody in connection with the murder of a private detective in 1987.
Daniel Morgan, 37, from Monmouthshire, was found with an axe in his head outside the Golden Lion pub in Sydenham, south London.
Police say that his Rolex watch had been taken but about £1,100 in cash remained in his pocket.
It is believed the father of two had just left a 90-minute meeting with his business partner before the brutal attack.
Scotland Yard launched a new enquiry into the murder in 2006.
Police charged four men with the murder on Wednesday. They are William John Rees, Mr Morgan's 53-year-old business partner of Weybridge, Glenn Barry Vian, 49, of South Croyden, Surrey, Vian's brother, Garry, 48 of no fixed abode and James Cook, 53, from Tadworth, Surrey.
Sidney Alexander Fillery, 61 was also charged with perverting the course of justice.
A sixth man was arrested on suspicion of misconduct in a public office has been bailed until June, pending further enquires.
It is believed that Mr Morgan was about to uncover a liaisons between police officers and a south London drugs network when he was killed.
The accused will appear at the Old Bailey on July 31.

Two Arrested Over Murder In Bermondsey

Detectives investigating the murder of Mahad Mohammed in Battersea on Wednesday have arrested two men on suspicion of murder.. On Wednesday around 1.30am, police were called to Wye Street, south west London, close to Pennethorne House following reports of a man suffering stab wounds.

Arrests Follow New Mitchell Murder Probe
Detectives investigating the murder of Raymond Mitchell have arrested two males on suspicion of his murder. The two men, aged 27 and 17, are in custody at separate south London police stations. On Sunday 17 April, officers were alerted around 6.50am to reports of a man shot in Marcus Garvey Way, south east London.

Youth arrested over ice rink murder
Police investigating the murder of a teenager at an ice rink in southwest London have arrested a 16-year-old youth. James Andre Smartt-Ford, 16, was shot twice in front of hundreds of people at the Streatham Ice Rink on February 3. The 16-year-old youth, from South Norwood, south London, was arrested on Thursday.
