Twelve Arrested In Rhys Jones Murder Investigation
Merseyside Police have arrested twelve people as the investigation into the murder of schoolboy Rhys Jones last year continues.
Eight men and three women were arrested during a series of dawn raids in the Croxteth area on Tuesday morning.
Four males - aged 17, 24, 25 and 16 - have been arrested on suspicion of murder.
A 16-year-old boy had been arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender, attempting to pervert the course of justice and possession of a firearm and ammunition.
A 49-year-old man and a 15-year-old boy have been arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender and attempting to pervert the course of justice.
A 17-year-old male has been arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender in connection with the murder.
Three women, aged 50, 54 and 21, and a 22-year-old man, have been arrested on suspicion of attempting to pervert the course of justice.
Merseyside Police confirmed that all those arrested are from the Croxteth area and they have been taken to police stations on Merseyside from questioning.
Eleven-year-old Rhys was shot dead as he walked home across the car park of the Fire Tree pub in Croxteth following football practice on August 22 last year.
Twenty people have been arrested in connection with the killing - 17 on suspicion of murder - since it happened, but no one has been charged.
Among the theories being investigated by police is the possibility that Rhys was shot by mistake in an attack by rival gangs.

Further Arrest in Rhys Murder Investigation
Police investigating the murder of Merseyside schoolboy Rhys Jones have made another arrest. A 20-year-old man has now been arrested in connection with Rhys' murder, Merseyside Police confirmed on Wednesday. Earlier, it was confirmed that police have been granted more time to continue questioning eleven people arrested in connection with the case.

A 17-year-old boy has been arrested in connection with the rape of 12-year-old girl in east London. Three males lead the girl to a "secluded" end of a street in Walthamstow at around 00:15 on Saturday before two of them attacked her, held her down and raped her.

Man Arrested On Suspicion Of Double Murder
A man has been arrested on suspicion of double murder after two people were found dead at a house in Essex. Emergency services discovered the man and woman at a property in Bentfield Gardens, Stansted at approximately 11pm on 21 July. They were pronounced dead at the scene. A 23-year-old man has been arrested and is currently in custody.

A man has been arrested in connection with the murder of a female student over 30 years ago. Melanie Road was 17 when she was attacked after a night out in June 1984. Her body was discovered with multiple stab wounds close to a block of garages in St Stephen's Court, Lansdown. A 63-year-old man from Bristol has been arrested on suspicion of murder.
