Brown Performs Poorly In Times Poll

A poll commissioned by the 'Times' has revealed that nearly a third of voters believe Prime Minister Gordon Brown is worse than former PM Tony Blair.

The Populus poll also shows that the Tories are continuing their lead over Labour, with support for the Conservatives rising to 39%, while support for Labour dropped to 33%.

Support for the Liberal Democrats also fell to 17%.

The poll follows a difficult week for the Prime Minister after he faced a backlash from MPs over his decision to abolish the 10p band of income tax, which is likely to impact the poorest sectors of the population.
