BBC Presenter Mark Speight Reported Missing

Children's TV presenter Mark Speight has been reported missing after failing to meet with a friend in Covent Garden, on Monday.

The 42-year-old's fiancée, Natasha Collins, 31, died after taking cocaine, alcohol and sleeping pills at their home in St John's Wood, north-west London on 3 January. At an inquest into her death last week, a coroner recorded a verdict of death by misadventure.

The presenter, who hosted 'SMart' and 'SMarteenies', was arrested on suspicion of murder and Class A drugs, but he was not charged.

An inquest heard last week that Miss Collins had taken cocaine, alcohol and sleeping pills before getting into a hot bath, where she was later found dead.

The cause of her death was given as cocaine toxicity and immersion in hot water.

Police are appealing for help in the search for Mr Speight and have said that the 42-year-old is in a 'vulnerable' state.

Scotland Yard have issued the following statement: "Mark Speight, of Norfolk Avenue, Enfield was last seen at 9.30am yesterday morning when he was dropped off at Wood Green station. He was due to meet a friend at 3.30pm in Covent Garden but did not arrive.

"Mark is approx 6ft tall, of slim build, with blond hair and blue eyes. He was last seen wearing a brown suit, dark jeans and a brown flat cap."

Mr Speight had been staying with his fiancée's mother, Carmen, after being unable to go back to the flat the couple had shared.

He has since quit the programme 'SMart', attributing his decision to his 'tragic loss'.
