Prince Philip Discharged From Hospital

The Duke of Edinburgh has been released from hospital after receiving treatment for a chest infection.

The 86-year-old was admitted to the King Edward VII's hospital in London last Thursday after he developed a bad cold, which forced him to cancel a number of engagements, including a thanksgiving service for Everest conqueror Sir Edmund Hilary on Wednesday.

According to reports, the Duke will not attend two engagements scheduled for Monday - a council meeting and a dinner to mark the 60th anniversary of the establishment of the State of Israel, both at Windsor Castle.

Buckingham Palace have confirmed that the Duke is recuperating at Windsor Castle and his future engagements will be decided on a day-to-day basis.

However, it was reported on Monday that the Duke will miss a visit to the Britannia Royal Naval College in Dartmouth on Thursday. He had been due to attend the event with the Queen.
