Easter Brings Traffic And Weather Misery

Easter could bring some of the worst ever traffic as the mass exodus for the holiday weekend begins.

Rain, wind, sleet and snow is also expected to cause misery for holiday makers.

Forecasters at Metogroup said chances of Good Friday snow were almost 90% in Scotland, 70% in northern England, Wales and Northern Ireland, and 40% in southern England.

The RAC has warned that bad weather will result in very bad traffic.

Spokesman Erik Nelson said: "Early indications show that all motorways are seeing a huge increase in traffic. Because the school terms have not yet finished, everyone is trying to get away in the same four-day period."

The Highways Agency has suspended some roadworks on English motorways and major A-roads, roadworks remain in place on some key routes.

The AA has predicted that 6.5 million cars will be on the road over the Easter weekend.
