Australia Deports Paedophile To Britain
A serial paedophile has been deported from Australia to the UK after a 12-year jail term.
Raymond Horne, 61, left Brisbane yesterday and was met by police when his flight landed at Heathrow Airport.
His latest prison sentence was for 14 sex offences committed after luring two homeless children to his apartment while volunteering for a charity, as reported by The Times.
In the UK, Horne will be obliged to sign the sex offenders' register, a condition of which is to report to the authorities.
Breaching the register carries a maximum five-year jail sentence.
The Home Office has said that it considers Horne eligible for a sexual offences prevention order.
A Home Office spokeswoman said: "We think he would be eligible but it is up to the police and courts."
Shy Keenan, of child abuse victims' campaign Phoenix Chief Advocates said Horne would be "more dangerous" in Britain because he has no support network here.
She warned that he may not be monitored by probation services.
Horne reportedly moved to Queensland in 1952 at the age of five began offending in the 1960s.
