Dead Norwegian Student Had Neck Injuries
The murder of a young student has shaken the Norwegian community in London.
Martine Vik Magnussen (23) was last seen leaving members-only club Maddox, in Mayfair in the early hours of Friday with an Arab friend.
Martine’s body was found in an apartment block in Great Portland Street with significant injuries to her neck.
After a post mortem established the injuries, police are now awaiting results of tests to determine the exact cause of death.
An anonymous source told Norwegian news agency NTB that the victim and her friends used to socialise with rich Arab men in London.
Maddox was a regular haunt for the Arabs and has also attracted A list celebrities like Madonna and Keira Knightley.
Detective Chief Inspector Jessica Wadworth who is leading the investigation said: “We would like to speak to a number of people in relation to her death, including a man of Arab appearance who was among her group of friends on Thursday night and who she may have left the club with in the early hours of Friday.”
Miss Magnussen moved to London in February last year and has been studying business at the private Regent’s Business School, Regent’s Park, since November.
The student is from Nesoya, an island outside Oslo that is home to Norwegian celebrities and business-men.
Her divorced parents, Odd Patter Magnussen and Kristin Vik Ronnaug and her brother, Magnus and sister Mathilde have all flown to London.

British Men Released In United Arab Emirates
Three British men held on suspicion of spying in the United Arab Emirates have been released, according to BBC News. Two Stockport men, named as Conrad Clitheroe and Gary Cooper, and expat Neil Munro, were arrested by an off-duty police officer in February. The police officer suspected the men where monitoring planes at Fujairah Airport.

Family of British hostage appeal for son's return
The family of Ken Bigley, the Liverpool man being held hostage in Iraq, have appealed for his safe release. In a statement sent to the Arab media Mr Bigley's younger brother Philip said that he spoke on behalf of their elderly mother who just wants to see her son return home "safe and sound".

Iran set to release captive British sailors today
The eight British sailors being held by Iranian authorities are expected to be released later today. According to Reuters reports, Iran's foreign minister Kamal Kharrazi told the state-run IRNA news agency that the men would be released today.
