Scarlett Mother Faces 'Negligence' Probe
The mother of murdered British teenager Scarlett Keeling may be questioned over possible negligence.
Fiona MacKeown had left her 15-year-old daughter in the care of a local family in Goa, India, while she and the rest of her children travelled to another part of the country.
Scarlett was found dead on Anjuna Beach on February 18.
Speaking to reporters, Mrs MacKeown said that she did not believe that she was negligent, but said that she was naive and trusting.
On Monday, a 28-year-old man appeared in an Indian court charged with raping Scarlett. However, Samson D'Souza had not been charged with the teenager's murder. He has been remanded in custody for 14 days.
Mrs MacKeown told reporters on Monday that she is "not confident" that police have the right man and accused them of trying to "cover up" their mistakes.
Mrs MacKeown also told reporters that she had written to the Chief Minister of Goa, requesting that the country's Central Bureau of Investigation be brought in to investigate the case.
