Cabbie In Court Over Rape Charges

A taxi driver has appeared in court today, charged in connection with a series of rapes and sexual assaults on women in black taxi cabs in London.

John Worboys, 50, a licensed cab driver from Sovereign Crescent in Rotherhithe, southeast London, was arrested last week, by police investigating a series of attacks on women picked up by a taxi in central London.

Mr Worboys was been charged with rape, sexual assault and administering a substance with intent.

He appeared before Sutton Magistrates' Court in south London on Tuesday and the case was adjourned for a preliminary hearing at Kingston Crown Court on April 15.

The ringleader of a paedophile gang in Rochdale, who groomed young white girls for sex, has been named after being found guilty of 30 separate child rape charges. Shabir Ahmed, 59, led a child sex exploitation ring of nine men who targeted vulnerable young girls in the Rochdale and Oldham areas of Greater Manchester.

Taxi Driver Pleads Guilty To Murder Of Sian O'Callaghan
A taxi driver has pleaded guilty to the murder of Sian O'Callaghan who went missing after visiting a nightclub in Swindon in March last year. 48-year-old Christopher Halliwell, of Ashbury Avenue, sexually assaulted the 22-year-old office worker and stabbed her in the head and neck.
