Madeleine Inquiry 'Close To End'

In a shock development, the police investigation into the disappearance of British girl Madeleine McCann is almost at an end, the Portuguese Justice Minister has revealed.

Speaking to a parliamentary committee in Lisbon on Wednesday, Alberto Costa said that they were "approaching the conclusion of the process".

However, Clarence Mitchell, spokesperson for Madeleine's parents Gerry and Kate McCann said that the only satisfactory conclusion for them would be Madeleine being found and reunited with her parents.

Madeleine disappeared from her family's holiday apartment in Praia da Luz in the Algarve on May 3 last year.
