Former Boyband Star Charged With Assault

Former boy band star Lee Ryan has been charged in connection with an attack on a taxi driver.

The 24-year-old former Blue singer has been accused of assaulting the man in Oxted, Surrey, after a minor traffic accident on New Year's Eve.

Surrey Police confirmed that the star was charged with common assault, after answering bail at Reigate police station, and he is due to appear before Redhill Magistrates' Court on February 29.

From 2001 to 2005 Lee was a member of Blue, along with Duncan James, Simon Webbe and Antony Costa, they went straight to number one in the British single charts five times.

They had duets with Stevie Wonder, Kool & The Gang and Elton John, and became quickly one of the then most popular bands in the UK.

After four years together though, they decided to take a break to pursue solo careers.
