Winehouse Wins Five Grammys

Troubled singer Amy Winehouse has won five awards at the Grammys, despite being unable to attend the event.

Amy picked up awards for Song of the Year and Record of the Year for her hit single 'Rehab', as well as awards for Best Pop Vocal for her album 'Back To Black', Best Female Pop Vocal and Best New Artist.

She missed out on scooping the award for Album of the Year, which, in a shock move, went to Herbier Hancock for 'River: The Joni Letters', his tribute to singer/songwriter Joni Mitchell.

However, visa problems prevented the 24-year-old singer from picking up her awards in person at the Los Angeles ceremony and she accepted her awards via video link from London.

Winehouse thanked her parents and her husband Blake, who is currently in custody awaiting trial on charges of attempting to pervert the course of justice and grievous bodily harm.

She also dedicated her win to London, referencing this weekend's fire at Camden Market, by saying "because Camden Town is burning down".

US rapper Kanye West was the other big winner at this year's event, winning four awards – for Best Rap Album, Best Rap Solo Performance, Best Rap Song and Best Rap Performance By A Duo Or Group.

Kanye paid tribute to his mother, Donda, in his acceptance speech. She died last November.
