British Investigators Say Bhutto 'Killed By Bomb Blast'

British police assisting in the investigation into the death of former Pakistani Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto have said that she died as a result of impact from a bomb blast, not from bullet wounds.

Ms Bhutto, the leader of Pakistan's opposition party, the Pakistan's People's Party, was killed as she returned from a political rally in Rawalpindi on December 27 last year.

Television footage released shortly after her death appeared to show a gunman aiming at Ms Bhutto and it appeared that her head jerked backwards, sparking claims that she had been shot.

The report, conducted by detectives from Scotland Yard, confirmed that three shots had been fired at Ms Bhutto's vehicle, but said that her killer had detonated explosives after firing the shots. Ms Bhutto's death, the report said, was the result of the explosion, which caused a "violent collision" between her head and the armour-plated sunroof of her car.

The Pakistan People's Party said that they still believe that Ms Bhutto was killed by a gunshot.

On Thursday, Pakistani officials confirmed that two more people had been arrested in connection with Ms Bhutto's death.

A 15-year-old boy was arrested in Pakistan's North West Frontier Province in connection with Ms Bhutto's death last month.

Officials said that the teenager, who was arrested along with a more senior militant, had confessed to being part of a team. allegedly organised by local militia commander Baitullah Meshud, who had been instructed to kill Ms Bhutto.

Mr Meshud has denied any involvement in Ms Bhutto's death.
