It is understood that the man, believed to be in his 40s, was arrested in Alvaston in Derby on Thursday night.
Another man and a woman were arrested at the same address on suspicion of assisting an offender.
All three suspects have been brought to London for questioning.
The body of the man, who has not yet been named, was discovered wrapped in blankets in a gold-coloured retail stock cage behind a row of shops in Kilburn on Wednesday.
