Three Teens Convicted Of Garry Newlove Murder

Three of five accused teenagers have been convicted of the murder of Cheshire man Garry Newlove, who was kicked to death outside his home after confronting a group of youths.

The 47-year-old sales manager was left in a coma after confronting a group of youths outside his house in Station Road North in Fearnhead on August 12 last year.

He had heard noises outside around 11pm that night and went out to investigate, but Chester Crown Court heard that a gang surrounded him within minutes who kicked and punched him to the ground.

He died in hospital two days after the attack. He had suffered a massive brain haemorrhage during the attack. His wife Helen, 14 and his three daughters, Zoe, 18, Danielle, 15, and 12-year-old Amy had kept a vigil by his bedside since the attack.

Mr Newlove's eldest daughter Zoe witnessed the attack and told the court that her father was kicked "like a football".

Adam Swellings, 19, Stephen Sorton, 17, and Jordan Cunliffe, 16, were found guilty of Mr Newlove's murder on Wednesday.

Two other teenagers, aged 15 and 17, were found not guilty of the same charge.
