Newlove Murder Jury Still Sitting

Five teenagers are continuing to deny accusations that they kicked a man to death as the sixth day of deliberations by the trial jury got underway.

Father-of-three Garry Newlove, 47, was attacked outside his home in Fearnhead, Warrington, Cheshire, on August 10 after a confrontation with a gang of youths.

The prosecution at Chester Crown Court said the sales manager was punched to the ground and kicked "as if he were a football".

Mr Newlove ran out of his house barefoot to remonstrate with a gang over vandalism to cars parked outside.

He was knocked unconscious and died at Warrington General Hospital two days later.

The five suspects - two 17-year-olds, a 16-year-old, a 15-year-old and 19-year-old Adam Swellings from Crewe, Cheshire – have denied the charges from the outset.
