French Fishermen Missing

Only one of the six crew members missing after a French fishing vessel sank 50 miles off the British coast has been picked up.

Coastguards have said that the vessel, Le Petit Julie was caught in storm conditions off the coast of Cornwall.

A spokesman for Falmouth coastguard said: "Winds in the area are anything up to severe gale nine, which does make it a little more difficult and more worrying for the people that are missing.

"At the moment it will be cold, which will affect the time of the sailors' survival."

He said that only one member of the seven crew has been found.

French authorities are reportedly co-ordinating the rescue amid the continuing fears it could be hampered by even more severe weather.
