Funeral Held For Meredith Kercher
The funeral has taken place of murdered British student Meredith Kercher in south London.
Members of the 21-year-old's family were joined by hundreds of mourners at Croydon Parish Church to pay tribute to Meredith, who was found dead in the house she was living in as an exchange student in Perugia in Italy last month.
Mrs Kercher’s parents, John and Arline, her sister Stephanie and brothers John and Lyle, were the last to arrive at the church. They followed Meredith's coffin, which was surrounded by colourful floral tributes and a photograph of her.
The funeral was followed by a private burial at Mitcham Road Cemetery, near Croydon.
Italian police believe that Meredith may have been killed in a violent sexual encounter.
Three people remain in custody in Italy in connection with her death. They are Amanda Knox, 20, Meredith's American housemate; Italian Raffaele Sollecito, 23, Ms Knox's former boyfriend; and Rudy Hermann Guede, 20.
Diya 'Patrick' Lumumba, 38, a Congolese bar owner, has been released from prison but remains a suspect in the case.
All have denied any involvement in Meredith's death.
