Diana's Private Letters Revealed At Inquest
Details of private letters written from Princess Diana to her lover Dodi Al Fayed have been revealed at the inquest into their deaths.
In one of the letters, dated August 6, 1997, Diana thanked Dodi for a holiday onboard his yacht.
The letter said: This comes with all the love in the world and as always a million heartfelt thanks for bringing such joy into this chick's life."
Another letter, dated August 13, 1997, referred to cufflinks, which belonged to her father, and she said that she had given these to Dodi, saying that she knew "how much joy it would give him to know they were in such safe and special hands". She signed the letter: "Fondest love, Diana".
The letters were produced during the cross-examination of Princess Diana's close friend Rosa Monckton, during which she broke down in tears.
On Thursday, she had played down the seriousness of the couple's relationship, but Michael Mansfield QC, prosecuting for Dodi's father Mohammed Al Fayed, suggested that Diana had withheld information from Ms Monckton, because she believed her friend was not keen on Dodi.
The inquest continues.
