British Soldier Killed In Afghanistan
A British Soldier has been killed in an explosion in southern Afghanistan, the Ministry of Defence has confirmed.
The soldier, who was serving with the Brigade Reconnaissance Force, 5 Regiment Royal Artillery, was part of a tactical patrol to the north of Sangin in the Helmand Province on Tuesday, when the vehicle they were travelling in was caught in an explosion, around 1pm local time.
Three soldiers were injured in the blast and they were all given medical treatment before being evacuated to the field hospital at Camp Bastion.
One of the soldiers died as a result of his wounds. The two other soldiers are currently receiving further treatment and their injuries are not thought to be life threatening.
Next of kin have been informed and the MoD said that there would be a period of grace before further details are announced.

Four British soldiers and a civilian interpreter have been killed in a roadside bomb blast in Iraq, the Ministry of Defence has confirmed. A fifth soldier was also seriously wounded in the attack and is being treated in the military hospital in Basra.
