M5 Reopens After Fatal Crash

A stretch of the M5 motorway in Somerset has reopened following a 17 car pile-up in which one man was killed.

The accident happened around 7pm on Monday night, on the northbound carriageway between junctions 25 and 26 near Taunton, Devon.

Devon and Somerset fire service confirmed that several other people suffered minor injuries in the crash.

It is believed that the man who died was in his 40s and not local. According to reports, the man who was killed was in a Rover ZS, which collided with a lorry and swerved across the lanes, before being struck by another car and coming to rest in the central reservation.

It is then believed that the man got out of his car and tried to cross the carriageway, but was then hit by several oncoming cars.
