No Action Over Royal Estate Bird Deaths
No further action is to be taken over the alleged shooting of two rare birds of prey on one of the Queen's estate, the Crown Prosecution Service has confirmed.
An investigation was launched following allegations that two hen harriers were shot on the Sandringham estate in Norfolk on October 24.
Prince Harry and a friend were on the estate at the time of the alleged incident and police spoke to them about it. A statement issued by Clarence House at the time said: "Because Prince Harry and a friend were in the area at the time, the police asked them if they have any information that could help. Unfortunately they had no knowledge of the alleged incident."
The Crown Prosecution Service said that there was "insufficient evidence" to bring criminal charges in the case. A statement said: "The bodies of the hen harriers have not been found and there is no forensic or ballistic evidence."
CPS lawyer Andrew Baxter said: "I am satisfied the police investigation has been thorough and there are no other areas of investigation which can be pursued."
