Bus Blaze Escape

Passengers who were forced to flee a fire on board a London to Aberdeen bus on the A74(M) in Dumfries and Galloway have had a lucky escape.

More than 60 people had to leave the megabus.com vehicle during the fire, which was believed to have started in the engine compartment early on Friday morning.

The incident took place at Johnstonebridge - between junctions 15 and 16 - and none of the 68 passengers on board the bus was hurt in the fire.

However, thick smoke resulted in traffic being delayed for a time.
