Alton Towers Opens Again After Skyride Blaze Accident

Theme park Alton Towers has reopened after a blaze, which broke out in a cable car station on Sunday.

The fire started at the Skyride cable car station around 7.30pm last night while guests attended the park's Halloween event, Scarefest.

One part of the Staffordshire park was evacuated, as 50 firefighters tackled the blaze.

The park reopened at 10am on Monday, although the Forbidden Valley area of the park, which includes the Air and Nemesis rollercoasters, remained closed while a clean-up operation continues.

The Skyride will remain closed until the end of the season on November 11.

Staffordshire Fire & Rescue Service said that the fire had been started accidentally by a halogen lamp.
