Sea Searched For Hotel Plunge Girl's Mother
Police are now conducting a sea and shore search for the mother of a seven-year-old girl who was seriously injured in a fall from a hotel balcony in Majorca.
Gianna Cooper, from Cambridgeshire, was found on the roof of an office on Monday morning after falling from the fifth floor of the Samoa Hotel in Calas de Majorca.
The girl underwent surgery in hospital in the island's capital, Palma, and is now in a serious, but stable, condition.
Her mother, Sara Cooper, 45, has not been seen since Gianna's fall, around 7:30am on Monday. The number of police involved in the search has now been increased. a spokesperson said: "Our priority is the area of Calas de Majorca. We are also looking at the coast and in the sea. At the moment, we believe that her disappearance is voluntary."
Ports and airports have also been alerted.
Gianna had been on holiday with her parents, Martin and Sara Cooper, and two older brothers - James, 14, and Jonathan 10.
The family had taken two rooms in the hotel, with the father and two boys staying in one room and the mother and daughter staying in the other.
The couple's eldest son is understood to have remained at the family home in Foxton.
A statement issued by the Foreign Office on behalf of Mr Cooper on Wednesday said: "Gianna is now in a stable condition and she continues to improve. This is a very difficult time for me and my family."

A Mini Cooper left parked on double-yellow lines and blocking a tramline, had to be "lifted" out of the way after a 20 minute "stand-off". It is understood the car was parked blocking tramlines near Nottingham Trent University for more than 20 minutes.
