Langham Loses Appeal On Child Porn
Actor Chris Langham has lost an appeal to have his 10-month jail sentence for downloading child pornography reduced.
A single judge at the Court of Appeal rejected the 58-year-old Bafta award-winning actor’s appeal for a fresh hearing over the sentence on Friday.
Langham was jailed at Maidstone Crown Court last month after he was found guilty of 15 charges of downloading images of children.
The father of five admitted viewing the images, but denied the charges against him, telling the court that he was researching for a character the television show 'Help', which he was writing. He also claimed that he was also trying to make sense of sexual abuse he had suffered himself when he was a child.
Langham was also cleared of having sex with an underage girl.
He is due to be released in the New Year, after serving about half his sentence.
A spokesperson for the Court of Appeal said that Langham had the option to renew his application, but has not yet done so.
Langham, who won his Bafta award for his role in the BBC series 'The Thick Of It', was arrested in November 2005 after files of child abuse were found on a computer, laptop and computer harddrive at his home.
