Primary School Kids Facing 'Excessive' Stress

Primary school children are facing increasing pressure to perform well at school and are becoming ever more stressed about modern life, according to a new report.

The Primary Review, conducted by researchers at Cambridge University found that primary age pupils were under pressure to perform well in tests.

They were also found to be fearful of climate change, global warming, pollution, the gulf between rich and poor nations and terrorism.

Review director Robin Alexander said that there was a sense that young children were being forced to grow up too soon.

A spokesperson for Department for Children, Schools and Families said: "We are committed to improving the lives of children and young people right across the country and we are making substantial progress.

"The vast majority of children go to better schools, enjoy better health, live in better housing and in more affluent households than they did ten years ago."
