Football Fan In Court Over Pitch Incident

A 27-year-old man has appeared in court charged in connection with an incident during Wednesday night's Champions League match between Celtic and Inter Milan at Celtic Park.

Robert McHendry was arrested after he handed himself into a Glasgow police station on Thursday afternoon. He was charged with breaching the peace and appeared before Glasgow Sheriff Court on Friday, where he admitted the charge. He is due to be sentenced on November 2.

On Thursday, it was revealed that McHendry has also been banned for life from attending Celtic club matches.

The incident happened after Celtic scored a last-minute winning goal during the match. McHendry ran onto the pitch and appeared to clash with Milan's goalkeeper, Nelson Dida.

The Brazilian keeper initially chased him for a few steps, before collapsing and being taken off the field on a stretcher.

McHendry then left the pitch.

Uefa, European football's ruling body, said that it would decide what action to take after it receives reports from match officials.

Celtic could face penalties from Uefa as a result of the incident.
