Taoiseach Meets President Sarkozy In Paris
Taoiseach Bertie Ahern is travelling to Paris today for talks with French President Nicolas Sarkozy.
Speaking before his departure, Mr Ahern said: "I am looking forward to meeting with President Sarkozy in Paris as this is the first opportunity that we have had to meet bilaterally since his election last May. Our discussions will centre on EU issues, most notably the related issues of agriculture, the EU budget review and the Doha round of the WTO (World Trade Organisation) negotiations."
The two leaders will also discuss the Reform Treaty, the future of Europe and international issues such as Kosovo, the Middle East and Darfur.
Following the meeting, the Taoiseach will attend the Ireland-France Rugby World Cup game with Mr Sarkozy.
Mr Ahern will also visit the Irish Embassy on Saturday morning to meet with visitors attending the Embassy's open day. His visit will conclude with a visit to the College des Irlandais, home to the Irish Cultural Centre in Paris, where he will attend the re-opening of the refurbished Old Library.
Mr Ahern's trip comes after he faced a third day of questioning at the Mahon tribunal into alleged corruption. He is due to be questioned for a fourth time next week.
