Holiday Isle Closed Due To Stomach Bug
A holiday isle off the north Devon coast has been closed to visitors after a stomach bug affected residents.
All ferry and helicopter trips to Lundy Island have been suspended until October 4.
Fifty-four people - including members of the island's resident staff - have fallen ill with the bug, which causes vomiting and diarrhoea and lasts for about 24 hours, within the last month.
Landmark Trust, which manages the island, said that the virus is not thought to be related to food or water. It is believed to be airborne.
The Trust runs 23 holiday cottages, a shop and a pub on the island, which is owned by the National Trust.
Work will now be undertaken to sanitise the island's buildings in order to eradicate the virus.
Anyone who had booked trips to the island are being urged to reschedule their visits.
