Trawler Being Towed To Safety Off Wexford

A large trawler that got into difficulty last night off the coast of County Wexford is being towed to safety.

Following engine difficulty, the 27m vessel, Endurance, was reported to be drifting at around 11.30pm last night.

The Kilmore Quay lifeboat is due to arrive at Rosslare Harbour before 10.00am this morning after towing the Endurance all night.

The three-man trawler, which fishes out of Clogherhead, was built in the year 2000.

Man released on bail following 'hit-and-run' death
A 60-year-old man arrested in connection with the death of a woman in a suspected hit-and-run death has been released on bail. The man, who is from Bolton, was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving in connection with the death of Valerie Syndall.

Money stolen in Securitas van raid
Police have launched an investigation after a Securitas van was robbed by a gang in Cheshire last night. The robbery happened in the Woolston area of Warrington on Wednesday night around 8:15pm. A Securitas security van, on route to a delivery, had been travelling behind a Volvo flatbed truck.

Marine dies as Baghdad bombing intensifies
Bagdad has been rocked by fresh explosions as the coalition forces continue the bombardment of selected targets withing the Iraqi capital. Explosions caused by renewed bombing last night set fire to several buildings in the city including the Ministry of Information and a palace belonging to Saddam Hussein's son Qusay.
