'Valuable Leads' In Paedophiles Search

Police in South Yorkshire searching for two missing paedophiles say that they are now following a number of "valuable leads" in the case.

Police appealed for information on Tuesday following the disappearance of William Bailey and Joseph Taylor.

The two men, who were recently released from prison, absconded from their approved addresses on Monday.

They were last seen together at Sheffield railway station on Monday evening.

Both men have previous convictions for sexual offences and are said to pose a high risk to the public, especially children.

South Yorkshire Police said that they had received a number of calls as a result of Tuesday's appeal and were now following a number of "valuable leads".

William Bailey, 58, from Rotherham, is described as 5'5" tall with short whitish-grey hair, slim build and a pale complexion.

Joseph Taylor, 27, from York, is described as 5'5" - 5'8" with short straight dark hair. He is described as Hispanic in appearance and is quietly spoken.

The men are known to have links with numerous parts of the country, specifically in North Yorkshire and Essex.

South Yorkshire Police Detective Chief Inspector Terry Mann said: "There is no intelligence to suggest these men have gone missing in order to commit offences, but clearly we are concerned and want to trace them. A significant operation is underway and we would be grateful for public vigilance and support."

Police are studying CCTV footage of the pair in Sheffield.

A multi-agency operation is underway to trace these two men and anyone with any information about them is urged to contact South Yorkshire Police on: 0500 510999.
