Minor Earthquake Felt In Manchester
Manchester city centre has been shaken by an earthquake measuring 2.5 on the Richter scale.
There were no reports of any injuries but experts said the impact was felt by a number of people across the city.
The tremor, which occurred at 11.50am on Friday, affected Manchester city centre, Reddish, Didsbury, Failsworth and Denton.
A British Geological Spokesperson (BGS) said: "We expect about eight earthquakes of this magnitude in the UK. The reason it has been felt by more people than usual is that it is quite shallow, about 3.1 miles, and it appears to be in a built-up area.
"It appears to be right in the centre of Manchester, the same location as a series of earthquakes in October 2002."
A spokesperson for the Greater Manchester Fire Service said they had received no reports of injury or damage following the quake.
